A Guide To Rebranding

via
If you haven't noticed, this blog got a little change recently and I wanted to share some of the things I learned along the way. You're never going to be ready so you might as well take the jump but here's a few things I would take note of.

/ Think LONG and HARD about it
- I can't say I took as much time as I felt I should have with this rebrand. The name had been in my head for weeks and I kept brushing off the idea to rebrand because I didn't want to have to go through all the work. I changed my design several times before I decided to change the name and nothing felt RIGHT until one night I just went for it. I have honestly never been happier with something.

/ Change your Facebook name FIRST
-If you LIKE the blog on Facebook, you'll notice it's not been updated yet. I waited to change my Facebook name until last because I wanted it to be a surprise... little did I know that it can take up to TWO WEEKS to change your Facebook name. They're pretty serious about name changes on Facebook.

/ Get A Pinterest Board of Inspiration
- If you're not sure what exactly you're wanting from your rebrand, get some ideas online. Search your favorite blogs + figure out what you like about them. Take note of their names, their design, how well everything flows and how the blog makes you feel. Then you can present this to your designer OR you can work with your own ideas.

/ Check Social Media Usernames
- This one may not be huge to everyone, but it is to me. One thing I've learned over the years is that you need to be consistent through every social media site. I had a different username for every social media and it was driving me crazy. I decided to switch it all over to @heysabrinafaith when I first started thinking about changing the name of the blog and that made it a lot easier to make the jump into the rebrand. (I probably should change my URL too.. eep)... Make sure that you can have a username you like throughout ALL social media sites.

I know a lot of you probably fear losing numbers or having to start over and my only advice for that is that people will come and people will go. If you have a blog you feel excited about and love writing for, people will notice and they will stick around. You may have a few readers stop coming back because they don't understand and that's okay.

I am excited to write again for this blog and I'm so excited about where this change can take me. I'm thankful you all have stuck around through it all. I hope these helped and please let me know if there's any questions you have in the comments or via emails (cattailscardigans@gmail.com)

  2. Girl, you know me and my rebrand :] It's so crazy how both of ours switched over so close together! I agree with all of these - I'm eventually going to write a 'tell all' about swapping over to wordpress + rebranding and everything. I LOVE the new design and can't wait to see everything swap over. :]

  3. Actually, you rebranding was the final "YOU HAVE TO DO THIS SABRINA" sign for me. I was always just so scared of all the work but I went for it- and couldn't be happier. I would love love love to see a post about making the swap.. I also wanted to go to wordpress but it's a bit scary making so many changes

  7. Awww!!! I'm so glad I could be the inspiration then, hahaha. I'm not "officially" done with my design yet, since we're still working out the kinks, but once I've been in it for a month or so I think I'll feel comfortable for a tell-all. :]
