Scheduling Posts

Today I wanted to touch on how I schedule my posts. I wanted to talk a little bit more about how I get ideas for new posts, how I set up my schedule and how I stick to it. I think it's very important to have a posting schedule planned out ahead of time so things will go smooth and you won't be searching for ideas last minute. I have always been bad at schedules but last week I sat down and planned on a schedule that I wanted to have for both my blog and my YouTube channel.

WHEN TO POST /
-You first need to decide how often you want to post and this is totally up to you. I used to want to post every single day but that was too much for me to do. If you have a busy lifestyle outside of blogging, I would stick to 1-2 days a week. If your personal schedule allows you to post more, go for it! For this blog I have allowed 3 days a week for posting and two days a week for videos on my YouTube. This works well for my schedule and allows me enough time to spend on each post. If I were to post every day, I don't think I would be as happy with my content. REMEMBER- it's QUALITY over QUANTITY. If you post 7 days a week and it's all crap, people are going to stop reading your blog. If you post once a week and it's something you really put your all into, people will see that and respect that.

HOW TO SET UP A SCHEDULE /
- I want my blog to be a mixture of topics I talk about and I want each of them to get around the same exposure. If you take a look at my sidebar, you will see a list of topics I have linked that I talk about frequently. When I sat down and worked on a schedule for this blog, I tried to make sure I hit most of these categories. This is breakdown of my schedule for the rest of the week

Mon- weekly wishes
Tuesday- (video)
Wednesday- Blogging
Thursday- FREE
Friday- (video + blog) Beauty

Decide on the number of days a week you want to post and then spread them out throughout the week. Weekends are pretty dead in the blogging world I've noticed, so I tend to post DURING the week. If you post about multiple topics (like I do) make sure you spread them out too. I have learned it's best to NOT post the same types of posts back to back as people will get bored / annoyed. I have set aside Mondays for my weekly wishes and Fridays for beauty posts so each Wednesday I will mix it up on what I post about.

HOW TO STICK TO YOUR SCHEDULE /
-I have wrote my schedule on a dry erase calender above my desk, so I see it daily and I am reminded on when I need to post. If you're anything like me, writing it down will help me see it and get it done.  I allow room for changes, too. Don't think just because you write down something as a post means you HAVE to stick with it. This week I had planned on doing a lip collection video for my channel but since it's subscription box time, I switched it so that my subscription box video will be still relevant. My lip collection video can be done at any time but my subscription boxes will lose it's appeal if I waited two weeks after I got my box. If I know I have a little wiggle room with what I post, it makes me feel less stressed about it.

How do you schedule your posts? I would LOVE to know.

  5. Love these tips, sticking to a schedule has been a struggle for me lately! I try to post 3 times a week and have only been getting 1-2 up every week instead. I have a blog planner & a weekly schedule that sits on my desk.
