2014 Goals

I know it's super cliche to set goals for the new year + I know some people are totally against it but I thought "Why the heck not?"  so here's a few goals for 2014.

/ take a photo a day
- my friend Alison has done a a 365 for the last two years + will be starting her third year this year. I am always so impressed by her photos and how talented she is. After seeing her stick with it and totally kick butt at it, I was inspired to start one this year. I wanted to try this before but always slacked at it and I didn't want all my photos to just be me in my underwear with Gregory. Take a look back at Alison's 365 for 2013 here.

/ travel + explore as much as possible
- After heading to California last September, I realized how badly I want to travel. I have always wanted to see the world + right now is the perfect time for me to get out and go. I'm only going to be this young for now. I have met so many amazing people online this year and I want to go and meet all of your cute faces. I want to go on random adventures with my friends + find new places to sit and write. I want to eat at random diners in the middle of no where and go camping. The more I travel, the more awesome photos I will have to take + that's perfect for the above goal.

- I used to always read in high school + I've just slowly stopped being into reading. I honestly see so many people talk about all these good books they're reading + I want to make that a goal this year, read all the cool books people talk about and expand my mind a little.

/ be more independent.
- This is in every single aspect of my life. I need to learn that it's okay to be alone. I honestly have let myself be way too upset about the Mikal situation and during this all I've realized, I need to focus on ME. I need to truly be independent on myself and to stop settling for someone just because I'm scared of being alone. I want to learn to drive again, get my own place + just be able to fully depend on just me again.

I don't want to list a ton of small goals because I know how I am with goals. I could list things all day that I want to do but not that I actually will ever do. I feel like this list is short but to the point.

What are some things you want to achieve in the next year?

  1. I dunno, I love setting goals for new years. Even if they're kind of far fetched (as mine ALWAYS are), I think it's a good time to see what you really want to focus on. I reeeeeally hope you travel and please come up to Boston if you're in my neck of the woods! :] Can't wait to see what you do with all these goals!!!

  2. mine are usually far fetched too. "be skinny" "eat better" when I know i'm going to spend most of the year in my underwear watching netflix eating junk food. I think what I listed was simple + things I actually want to do and see happening. but who knows.

  6. I am doing something that Jessica at This Analog Adventure mentioned! You record a 1-3 second video clip everyday and put them together at the end of the year. I am super excited to do that.

AND I'M SUPER EXCITED FOR YOU TO COME TO AUSTIN :D

  7. That is also a great idea! I may try to do both but I know I'm terrible at keeping to things daily so I'll probably suck it up badly.

I am so excited for Austin too! I am planning some of the trip now and my heart is so happy to be able to meet some of my internet best friends. God put some amazing ladies in my life + now they get to be my IRL bffs too! I will need to get your cell phone number so we can message and meet at the mall or something one day!

  10. Depends on the genre you like the most, but my most recent favorites are Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and Mr. Penumbra's 24 hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan! :)

  11. I have always wanted to take a photo a day, either start on my birthday or at the New Year, but always forget. I guess I could always start on a nothing day like today, right? :)
