Body Weight Support Treadmill / Spinal Cord Injury

Don't mind me looking/sounding silly.

Today was the first day I was able to get on the body weight supported treadmill!!!

For those of you don't know what this is:

Basically my therapist put me in a harness that went around my belly + in between my legs. Not the most comfortable of things. Then the machine that is holding me up, pulls me from a sitting position to a standing position.. I have no control over my legs, so the moment they have weight put on them, my knees will bend and I will fall. HOWEVER the machine is able to hold me up and allow me to still put some weigh on my legs. I had a therapist on both my legs + they would move my legs/feet for me. As my legs were being moved, I tried to go through the motion of what I remember walking being like. This will hopefully remind my legs what they are supposed to be doing + help rebuild the connection from my brain to my legs.

I am pretty stoked about this + hopefully the progress it brings.
God is good.

  2. This is so exciting, wow you must be happy to be making some progress. It is crazy how fast our body forgets when a nerve path way is blocked. Keep up the good work, you are such a good sport and I have faith your body will remember what to do. :)
