DIY | Simple Cupcake Stand

Holy moly guys- just 5 short days until my Beauty Bash happens and I am so excited about it. I'm currently out of town and wasn't expecting to be out of town for this long (I'm away until Friday- so things will be a little slow until then because I wasn't prepared) The positive thing about me being away meant I was able to go to stores I don't have back home and I grabbed up some more decor for my Beauty Bash (you can track  my party pics on Instagram by using #sabrinafaithsbeautybash).

I had been looking for a cupcake stand to use for my party and couldn't find anything I liked- until I saw another hostess on Instagram post a stand she made and I knew I needed to create my own as well. She just posted a picture of hers (which you can find HERE) so I went on the hunt to find my own items to make mine. I wasn't going to post a DIY on this- but I decided I should. (That's why these photos suck)

Thankfully- my mom lives near a Dollar Tree so that's where my first stop was. I grabbed two white plates (one larger one and one smaller one) and a candle holder. Then I went to Wal Mart and grabbed this gold spray paint. You'll also need a hot glue gun, but I didn't add that in this photo. Basically all you do know is spray the candle holder and let it dry. I let it dry over night before I glued it to the plates- but that isn't needed. Then glue it all together..

Annddd- you're done! If you want to add a little extra spice, I love Elizabeth's idea of adding polka dots to the plates. You can really do a lot of cool things with this simple DIY and it's going to look EXTRA cute at my Beauty Bash!

DIY Tissue Paper Tassel Garland

I hope you guys are enjoying my DIY posts. I'll be honest- I never saw myself being a DIY person but I'm having so much fun planning my Benefit x Birchbox Beauty Bash and I wanted to make as much of it be handmade as possible. Today's DIY will be a Tissue Paper Tassel Garland. I've seen these all over and I think they are so adorable - so I wanted to make my own. Let's get started!

All you're going to need is Tissue paper (I picked 3 colors but you can pick as many as you want- I think 3 is best), some clear tape, a pair of scissors and some sort of string. I used fishing line because it's clear and that's what I wanted for mine- but you could also use string.

For the first step, you're going to need to fold your tissue paper in half and make cuts up towards the fold. You're going to want to leave some space between the top fold and where you stop cutting.. Do this all along the edge of the tissue paper. NOTE / you can add more sheets of tissue paper if you're feeling brave- this helps speed up the process. 

Once you've cute all the edges, unfold the tissue paper and lay it flat. This is a bit of a hassle. Tissue paper is so easy to rip so I took a lot of extra caution with this step. Once it's laid out flat, start rolling it up from the side and once it's all rolled up you can either twist it slightly or..

Take the middle and wrap it around your finger, creating a loop. I used my finger to really shape the loop like I wanted. I then straightened it out and took a piece of the tissue paper and ripped it off. This piece will help close up the loop. I cut it small and then wrapped it around the loop and added to tape to help keep it all together. Then you're free to add it to whatever string you have picked.

I also wanted to include a Book Review in this post. Birchbox also sent me a copy of "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" by Mindy Kaling as a part of their book club. One of my goals for the year was to read more and I've kind of slacked so whenever I found out I would be getting this in the mail, I was stoked. Mindy Kaling is super hilarious and so was this book. It was an easy read and it was super fun to read her little stories. The book is kind of like a bunch of funny blog posts slammed into one book. DIY- Gold Glitter UTENSILS

 Hi babes- Today I'm sharing a super easy DIY project.This is one of the DIY projects I'm working on for my Benefit BEAUTY BASH I'll be hosting later this month. (AH- I'm so excited). I plan on sharing as many as the DIYs that I do so that the other hostesses can have ideas for their parties and of course, whoever else wants to use my ideas. This idea came to me from a picture I saw on Pinterest. The link went to an etsy shop that was no longer in service and I was super bummed because I thought it was a great idea and would be a awesome bonus to my Benefit party... so of course I just decided to take the plunge myself and DIY them! This is SUPER easy and if I can do it, so can you. Let's get started!

All you need is some utensils, mod podge, glitter and a small paint brush. I picked up all these from Wal-Mart and it was all pretty affordable. I'd also recommend using a spray glue to help seal the glitter after you apply it to the utensils. To avoid a mess, grab some paper to place under each utensil while you sprinkle glitter on it. This also helps save the extra glitter.

Grab your first utensil and apply the Mod Podge on the handle. I wanted to make the glitter take up most of the handle, but left a little room at the end of the spoon just to be safe. Using a brush to apply the Mod Podge helps keep the glue where you want it and make the whole utensil look a lot nicer. When applying the glue, try to make it be an even coat so you won't have clumps. 

Then sprinkle the glitter all over the handle. I waited a few moment to let it all settle and then I lightly tapped the handle so the extra glitter would fall onto the paper. I repeated the above steps to the backside of the handle and then touched up any spots that lacked glitter. Once I had glitter where I wanted it, I hung up the utensils to dry and then applied a few coats of spray glue to them to help reduce the amount of fall off later on.

I know this was a super easy DIY but I think it really adds a special something to regular plastic utensils. You can use these as actual utensils or just use them as decoration- either way I think it will add a super cute touch to any party. I know I can't wait to use them at my Benefit Beauty Bash!
